About

A tool for collective action

A platform designed to make it easier to organise and follow up the fight against the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax).

The association

The Le Frelon association

Launched in 2018 in Ardèche, the platform has come a long way since. Today it is used by people fighting the hornet in many departments and regions.

The Le Frelon association was created in 2022 to support this growth and secure the future of the project.

The tool remains free for every organisation that wants to coordinate collective action in its area. As an association, we can receive support in the form of grants or donations: support the platform.

The vision

The fight against the Asian hornet works best when it is collective, coordinated and followed over time.

The mission

To offer a simple tool to record, organise and follow up reports and nest removals.

Beekeeper, pest controller and developer

I am a beekeeper and a pest control professional. But before that, I was a web developer.

It was while taking part in collective action against the Asian hornet in Drôme and Ardèche that I had the idea of building an online platform to make it easier to manage all the information about reports and nest removals.

Today LeFrelon is used to manage Asian hornet reports, whether they concern a single hornet or a nest. It is also used to manage a network of certified professionals who remove nests. Local authorities, towns and intermunicipalities, can create a free account to follow the reports in their area and commission professionals.

Many features are already available: real-time location of reports on a map, centralised data, statistical exports, email notifications, town hall contact details in one click, land parcel display, and much more.

The platform is free and open to everyone involved in collective action: GDS, GDSA, FREDON, towns, intermunicipalities.

For a demonstration of the tool or to talk about using it in your area, write to me through the contact form.
